With installations picking up pace, officials are confident of meeting the larger national goal within the scheduled timeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the ministry, the scheme is progressing steadily and demand continues to remain strong across urban and semi-urban regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Over 53 Lakh Applications Received So Far<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, <strong>53.54 lakh applications<\/strong> have been received on the official national portal under the scheme. Out of these, over <strong>19 lakh rooftop solar systems have already been installed<\/strong>, benefiting nearly <strong>24 lakh households<\/strong> nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme follows a <strong>demand-driven model<\/strong>, allowing any residential electricity consumer with a <strong>grid-connected power supply from a local DISCOM<\/strong> to apply and receive the benefits through the national portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The PMSG: MBY was launched to promote rooftop solar adoption among households while reducing electricity bills and accelerating India\u2019s clean energy transition. Under the scheme, eligible households receive <strong>subsidies and financial assistance<\/strong> for installing rooftop solar panels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The objective is twofold\u2014<strong>lower household energy costs<\/strong> and <strong>increase India\u2019s renewable energy capacity at the grassroots level<\/strong>\u2014while also reducing dependence on fossil-fuel-based power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Boost to India\u2019s Clean Energy and Climate Goals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The rapid uptake of rooftop solar reflects growing awareness among consumers and strong government backing for renewable energy. The installations are expected to <strong>cut carbon emissions<\/strong>, ease pressure on power grids during peak demand, and improve energy security at the household level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With over 76 lakh additional homes still to be covered by FY 2026\u201327, the next two years will be crucial for scaling up execution on the ground.
