{"id":1303442,"date":"2025-12-09T14:00:23","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T08:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/?p=1303442"},"modified":"2025-12-09T14:01:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T08:31:17","slug":"pune-rto-urges-rapido-uber-ola-to-follow-govt-norms-for-calculating-fare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/pune-rto-urges-rapido-uber-ola-to-follow-govt-norms-for-calculating-fare\/","title":{"rendered":"Pune RTO Urges Rapido, Uber, Ola To Follow Govt Norms For Calculating Fare"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has recently issued a firm directive to the cab service providers such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido to promptly adopt government-sanctioned fares in a major move to regulate the fares for the thousands of daily commuters and app-based drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Untitled-design-1-1-1.png\" alt=\"Pune RTO Urges Rapido, Uber, Ola To Follow Govt Norms For Calculating Fare\" class=\"wp-image-1303461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Untitled-design-1-1-1.png 1000w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Untitled-design-1-1-1-300x140.png 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Untitled-design-1-1-1-768x357.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ola, Uber, and Rapido To Follow Government-sanctioned Fares<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although this action prompted allegations from drivers\u2019 unions claiming unfair compensation, arbitrary account suspensions, and unlawful practices by aggregator platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this regard, the Maharashtra Kamgar Sabha had planned a protest outside the RTO starting December 5.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But later on, RTO has requested the union to call off the demonstration after a comprehensive meeting with company representatives earlier this week <a href=\"https:\/\/punemirror.com\/city\/pune-rto-ola-uber-rapido-fare-rules-driver-relief-2025\/\">reportedly<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Regional Transport Officer Archana Gaikwad recognized that drivers had voiced significant concerns about companies not adhering to fare regulations outlined in the Government Resolution (GR) dated May 20, 2025, in a letter addressed to union president Dr. Keshav Nana Kshirsagar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cab Service Aggregators Need To Revise Fare Structures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All aggregator platforms are required to revise fare structures in accordance with RTA-approved rates, as per the GR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is significant as it ensures that at least 80% of the fare collected is allocated to drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime, the ongoing fare disputes between passengers and drivers\u2014especially regarding inflated app estimates and diminished driver earnings\u2014have become commonplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These conflicts arise directly from companies neglecting government fare standards, said Dr. Kshirsagar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further noting, \u201cThe RTO has stepped in once more and directed Ola, Uber, and Rapido to enforce the sanctioned fare structure. The companies have responded positively, but previous experiences indicate they frequently disregard directives. We hope they will act responsibly this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems that all three aggregators agreed to consult with their senior management teams and adjust their app systems accordingly during the meeting on December 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering this commitment, now the RTO is urging unions to refrain from protest-related disruptions and allow time for compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides this, the RTO has also warned aggregators against the unauthorised two-, three-, and four-wheeler services, sudden driver account deactivation without due process and any violation of the 80% driver payout rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After this implementation, the passengers may soon see consistent fares, reduced conflicts and more transparency in rides.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has recently issued a firm directive to the cab service providers such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido to promptly adopt government-sanctioned fares in a major move to regulate the fares for the thousands of daily commuters and app-based drivers.
