Senthilkumar observed that YouTubers, while free to review products, <strong>cannot be allowed to damage a company\u2019s reputation, goodwill or trade prospects<\/strong> under the guise of \u201chonest reviewing\u201d. The court held that content creators must act responsibly, especially when their reviews influence consumer decisions at scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The judge further noted that the contested video amounted to <strong>an unreasonable restriction on the company\u2019s constitutional right<\/strong> to conduct business under Article 19(1)(g).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Case: Water Energiser Manufacturer vs YouTube Channel<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Theni-based Nannir Water Source LLP, which manufactures eco-friendly water treatment systems for domestic, industrial and agricultural sectors, approached the court after a video uploaded on May 25 allegedly contained <strong>false and disparaging statements<\/strong> about its &#8220;water energiser&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company argued that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The review created unwarranted suspicion about the product\u2019s efficacy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Customers began hesitating to purchase the product<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The company risked substantial financial loss<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Their trademark-protected product was being misrepresented<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The defendants, Syed Imran and Syed Abbas\u2014operators of the <em>Buying Facts<\/em> channel\u2014have been <strong>barred from circulating the video<\/strong>, and YouTube has been ordered to block access to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Court Draws Parallels With Earlier Marico Case<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The plaintiff cited a similar 2021 case where the Bombay High Court granted Marico Limited an injunction against misleading reviews of Parachute coconut oil.
