The new service fills this long-standing gap by offering <strong>clean, ready-to-use bedrolls on an on-demand, on-payment basis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative follows a successful pilot conducted under the <strong>New Innovative Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (NINFRIS) 2023\u201324<\/strong>, which received excellent feedback from passengers. Based on the strong response, the Railways has approved it as a <strong>regular non-fare revenue model<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Affordable Bedroll Packages<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure accessibility for passengers across all budgets, Southern Railway has introduced three economical packages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u20b950 Package<\/strong> \u2013 1 bedsheet + 1 pillow + 1 pillow cover<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u20b930 Package<\/strong> \u2013 1 pillow + 1 pillow cover<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u20b920 Package<\/strong> \u2013 1 bedsheet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These price-friendly combinations aim to provide hygiene and comfort without burdening travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is also expected to generate <strong>\u20b928.27 lakh per year in licence fees<\/strong>, adding valuable non-fare revenue for Southern Railway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Service to Cover 10 Major Trains<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For the initial rollout, the bedroll service will operate for <strong>three years<\/strong> across ten major long-distance trains under Chennai Division. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nilgiri Superfast Express (12671\/72)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mangalore Superfast Express (12685\/86)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mannargudi Express (16179\/80)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tiruchendur Superfast Express (20605\/06)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Palghat Express (22651\/52)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Silambu Superfast Express (20681\/82)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tambaram\u2013Nagercoil Superfast Express (22657\/58)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trivandrum Superfast Express (12695\/96)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alleppey Superfast Express (22639\/40)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mangalore Express (16159\/60)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Enhancing Passenger Comfort and Hygiene<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The introduction of sanitised bedrolls is expected to <strong>significantly improve travel comfort<\/strong>, especially for overnight journeys.
