{"id":1302984,"date":"2025-11-26T08:57:42","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T03:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/?p=1302984"},"modified":"2025-11-26T08:58:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T03:28:11","slug":"after-14-years-mumbai-metro-to-expand-till-mira-bhayandar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/after-14-years-mumbai-metro-to-expand-till-mira-bhayandar\/","title":{"rendered":"After 14 Years, Mumbai Metro To Expand Till Mira-Bhayandar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After nearly 14 years of waiting, metro connectivity for Mira-Bhayandar residents is finally close to becoming a reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced that the metro service between Dahisar and Kashimira in Mira Road is expected to launch by the end of December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"601\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-06-17-at-9.58.14-AM-1024x601-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1302993\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-06-17-at-9.58.14-AM-1024x601-3.png 1024w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-06-17-at-9.58.14-AM-1024x601-3-300x176.png 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-06-17-at-9.58.14-AM-1024x601-3-768x451.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This launch marks a major milestone for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Metro Service Between Dahisar and Kashimira Set to Launch After 14-Year Wait<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarnaik made the announcement during an inspection of the Dahisar\u2013Kashimira route <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mid-day.com\/mumbai\/mumbai-news\/article\/mumbai-metro-services-to-extend-to-mira-bhayandar-by-december-end-23604102#google_vignette\">along <\/a>with senior Maha Metro engineers, technical consultants, and the contractor\u2019s team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new metro route is currently waiting for mandatory certification from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After receiving approval, the state government will decide the date of the inauguration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarnaik stated, \u201cWe expect that by the end of December, the route will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He recalled his earlier promise, saying, \u201cIn 2009, when I was elected as the representative of this area, I had shown the citizens the dream of a metro. At that time, several established leaders mocked my announcement. But after 14 years of persistent follow-up, that dream is finally taking shape.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He credited the acceleration of the project to the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition government that came to power in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He specifically acknowledged the support of Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde, who was the urban development minister at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Metro Route to Enable Direct Travel from Mira-Bhayandar to Andheri<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarnaik said that once the route opens, residents will be able to travel by metro from Mira-Bhayandar all the way to Andheri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that commuters will also be able to connect to Metro Line-1 and travel directly to Colaba via the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further said, \u201cIn the new year, Mira-Bhayandar residents will have convenient metro connectivity to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the Mantralaya, and the Vidhan Bhavan in South Mumbai.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dahisar\u2013Kashimira metro line will later be extended to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Ground by December 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work on the Vasai\u2013Virar metro line is also expected to begin soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarnaik expressed optimism, stating that in the future commuters will be able to travel from Vasai\u2013Virar to Andheri and then onward to Colaba via the airport interchange station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After nearly 14 years of waiting, metro connectivity for Mira-Bhayandar residents is finally close to becoming a reality.
