ICF coaches are capped at <strong>140 kmph<\/strong>, and their design is more vulnerable during collisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In contrast, the modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches\u2014originally designed in Germany and now made in India\u2014offer a transformative leap. Built with stainless steel and equipped with advanced components, LHB coaches:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Run safely at <strong>160 kmph<\/strong>, with a design speed of <strong>200 kmph<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feature an <strong>anti-climbing mechanism<\/strong>, preventing coaches from overriding each other in accidents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use <strong>fire-retardant materials<\/strong>, drastically reducing fire hazards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide smoother, quieter, jerk-free travel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This upgrade is not just about speed\u2014it\u2019s about elevating India\u2019s travel experience to global standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>16 Trains Set for a Major Upgrade<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Central Railway has now announced a major milestone: <strong>16 trains will soon replace their ageing ICF coaches with new LHB coaches<\/strong>. This large-scale upgrade marks another step in Railways\u2019 all-India shift toward modern rolling stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past few years, premium trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto have already transitioned fully to LHB. With Central Railway\u2019s latest decision, more long-distance and high-frequency routes will follow suit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will mean:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Enhanced safety<\/strong> for passengers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Higher operational speeds<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reduced maintenance<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Improved travel comfort<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The rollout ensures that more travellers will experience the modern coach technology that India has been steadily adopting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mission 2030: Faster, Safer Railways<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Indian Railways has set a clear target: <strong>phase out all ICF coaches by 2030<\/strong>.
