The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) seems to be all set to widen the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway from four to six lanes under the major expansion plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UP Government Approved 3000 Cr For Six Lane Expansion <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This appears to be a much awaited revamp which is mainly aimed at easing traffic, particularly on the Partapur-Haridwar-Dehradun stretch (old NH 58). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved<\/a> the highway\u2019s expansion following the  directions from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will be commencing the first phase of the six-lane expansion from Meerut to Roorkee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to the stretches from Partapur in Meerut to Dehradun, a national highway, it witnesses exceptionally heavy traffic every day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, the weekend travel from Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad towards the hills increases traffic which causes the corridor into a choke point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are affected by massive jams which often begin on Friday evenings and continue until Monday morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commuters Getting Freedom From Recurring Hardship <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal is to \u201cfree commuters from this recurring hardship\u201d said Amit Pranav, NHAI Project Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the ministry has ordered NHAI to widen the 80 km stretch between Partapur and Rampur Tiraha in Muzaffarnagar which is expected to address these recurring congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work on this latest initiative has already commenced as a consultant agency has already embarked on a drone-based survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is now nearing completion & ready to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) which they are planning to submit the final document  by March 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey findings will determine the project\u2019s design and scope, said Rampal Singh Saini, who heads the consultant team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming to the overall project cost, it is estimated at approximately Rs 3,000 crore under this, the widening project includes building underpasses at all intersections to eliminate traffic choke points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are planning for around 20 new underpasses which are supported by service roads on both sides. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mansoorpur will get a 1.5 km elevated section and existing flyovers will be broadened, and some land acquisition is expected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe survey work is almost finished. We will submit the DPR by March 2026,\u201d confirmed by Amit Pranav, DPR Timeline and Administrative Push Consultancy head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving ahead,\u201d the administration is focused on providing relief to commuters. The Dehradun highway will be expanded to six lanes to end the long-standing traffic crisis. The DPR is in progress, and once approved, the construction will be completed within one and a half years,\u201d assured Dr V.K. Singh, Meerut District Magistrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has also scheduled a meeting next week to review the project details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
