This applies only when tickets are booked directly on airline websites and excludes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Domestic flights departing within 5 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International flights departing within 15 days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After 48 hours, standard cancellation fees apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddfe Faster &amp; Fair Refunds<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The DGCA aims to eliminate refund delays and unfair deductions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Credit card refunds<\/strong> within 7 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cash bookings<\/strong> refunded immediately<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Agent bookings<\/strong> refunded within 21 working days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Full refund of taxes &amp; airport fees<\/strong>, even on non-refundable fares<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No extra fees for refund processing<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Airlines must clearly display refund amounts and policies during booking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddcd\u200d\u2642\ufe0f No Name-Correction Fee &amp; Medical Flexibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Passengers can correct spelling errors in their names <strong>within 24 hours<\/strong> of direct website booking \u2014 at no cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airlines may also issue refunds or credit shells for <strong>medical emergencies<\/strong>, offering compassionate flexibility for passengers in distress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcb3 Credit Shells &amp; Transparency Rules<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Credit shells will no longer be automatic. <strong>Passengers must choose<\/strong> whether to hold funds with the airline.<br>Cancellation charges cannot exceed the <strong>basic fare + fuel surcharge<\/strong>, and airlines must prominently display these fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foreign carriers operating in India must follow their home-country rules while complying with Indian refund standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u270d\ufe0f Final Word<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The DGCA\u2019s proposals mark a major step towards fairer, passenger-friendly air travel in India.
