Recently, the Railway Ministry issued an update addressing key issues that have slowed progress. According to a Railway Board letter sent to the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and General Managers of all railway zones, several shortcomings were identified, including problems with furnishing, workmanship, and cleanliness. Specific issues like sharp edges at berthing areas, poorly designed curtain handles, and \u201cpigeon pockets\u201d between berth connectors were cited as concerns requiring urgent correction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry has also directed all zones to adhere strictly to RDSO\u2019s operational guidelines for trains running<\/a> at a maximum speed of 160 kmph. As part of the safety and certification process, the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS) must review and forward approvals to the Railway Ministry before any newly designed train, such as the Vande Bharat sleeper, can begin operations. Officials confirmed that RDSO submitted its compliance report to the CCRS on September 1, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once operational, the Vande Bharat sleeper train promises a blend of comfort, speed, and advanced technology. Passengers can expect spacious berths, onboard Wi-Fi, charging ports, and improved temperature control within coaches to ensure comfort despite frequent door operations. On the safety front, the train will feature fire protection systems, the advanced Kavach 4.0 collision avoidance technology, and a secure communication system linking the loco pilot, train manager, and station masters. Maintenance of all brake systems will also be strictly monitored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
