tariffs in the near term.<br>The clarification came from <strong>Anshuman Thakur<\/strong>, Jio\u2019s Head of Strategy, during the company\u2019s <strong>Q2 FY26 earnings call<\/strong>, where he <a href=\"https:\/\/telecomtalk.info\/jio-confirms-no-immediate-tariff-hike-plan\/1000918\/#google_vignette\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe are nudging consumers to consume more and happily pay more, but no immediate plans for the tariff hike.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This statement follows recent changes by Jio and Airtel, both of which <strong>discontinued their 1GB daily data plans<\/strong>, a move seen as encouraging users to shift to higher-value per user (ARPU)<\/strong> \u2014 a key performance metric \u2014 has shown steady improvement after the tariff hike of 2024.<br>At the end of Q2 FY26, Jio reported an <strong>ARPU of \u20b9211.4<\/strong>, up from \u20b9208.8 in the previous quarter.<br>The company attributed this rise to <strong>increased data consumption<\/strong> and a <strong>reduction in annual plans<\/strong>, which previously dragged down its ARPU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most Jio subscribers are now on <strong>short- to medium-term plans<\/strong>, which have helped the telecom giant sustain revenue momentum and improve per-user earnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Analysts Expect Tariff Hike Before IPO<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a report from <strong>JP Morgan<\/strong>, if Jio refrains from hiking tariffs soon, its <strong>year-on-year ARPU growth<\/strong> for the March quarter could still be around <strong>4%<\/strong>, reaching \u20b9214 per subscriber.<br>However, the report added that <strong>investors expect Jio to raise tariffs ahead of its proposed IPO<\/strong>, likely by <strong>June 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Jio Crosses 500 Million Subscribers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Reliance Jio continues to dominate India\u2019s telecom market, having added <strong>8.3 million new subscribers<\/strong> in Q2 FY26.<br>Its total user base now stands at <strong>506.4 million<\/strong>, with a rapidly expanding <strong>5G user base<\/strong> of <strong>234 million<\/strong>, up from 213 million last quarter.<br>Notably, <strong>5G users now account for 50%<\/strong> of Jio\u2019s total wireless subscribers \u2014 a key indicator of the company\u2019s digital growth strategy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reliance
