According to <strong>Rikant Pittie<\/strong>, co-founder of an online travel platform, \u201cWe\u2019ve seen an average hike of 30\u201335% across our platform due to festive demand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Popular Routes See Record Price Hikes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Flights from <strong>Hyderabad to Nagpur or Kolkata<\/strong>, which earlier cost \u20b94,500\u2013\u20b96,500, are now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mid-day.com\/amp\/mumbai\/mumbai-news\/article\/diwali-rush-sends-airfares-soaring-up-to-35-per-cent-hike-on-popular-routes-23598734\">priced<\/a> between <strong>\u20b911,500 and \u20b916,500<\/strong>. Similarly, <strong>Mumbai\u2013Patna<\/strong> flights have jumped to around <strong>\u20b914,000<\/strong>, up from \u20b99,000 before the festive season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For smaller cities like <strong>Dibrugarh (Assam)<\/strong>, limited connectivity has made fares even steeper. Traveller <strong>Aashna Sureka<\/strong> shared that her one-way ticket from Ahmedabad to Dibrugarh was around \u20b923,000, forcing her to book a round trip for \u20b927,500 instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Strong Travel Sentiment Despite Costs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even with steep fares, travel enthusiasm remains high. \u201cMost travellers haven\u2019t altered their plans,\u201d Pittie noted. \u201cBookings began early in September to avoid last-minute spikes.\u201d Travel portals report that only a small fraction of passengers have postponed trips, while most secured tickets months in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fares are likely to remain high through <strong>Diwali and Chhath Puja<\/strong>, before easing in early November. However, another spike is expected around the <strong>year-end holidays<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Airlines Add Extra Flights To Meet Demand<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To manage the festive rush, <strong>Air India (AI)<\/strong> and <strong>Air India Express (AIE)<\/strong> have announced <strong>166 additional flights<\/strong> to and from <strong>Patna<\/strong>, one of the busiest festive destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>AI<\/strong>: 36 extra flights each from Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru (Oct 15\u2013Nov 2)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>AIE<\/strong>: 26 additional flights each from Delhi and Bengaluru (Oct 22\u2013Nov 3)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the price surge, India\u2019s festive travel spirit remains undeterred \u2014 with packed airports, full flights, and no signs of slowdown just yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/travel\/travel-news\/festival-season-airfare-spike-air-travel-costs-increase-for-diwali-and-onam\/articleshow\/112647752.cms\">Image Source<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As Diwali nears, domestic airfares have reached some of the highest levels of 2025, with prices shooting up by 20\u201335% compared to earlier this year.
