This can leave the <strong>positive terminal exposed<\/strong>, posing a risk if it comes into contact with nearby metal components during a crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Such contact could cause a <strong>short circuit<\/strong>, potentially leading to <strong>a vehicle fire or injury<\/strong>. The agency noted that while no real-world incidents have been reported so far, the defect was confirmed during safety testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 Similar Recall in the United States<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Just a week earlier, the <strong>U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)<\/strong> issued a <strong>similar recall<\/strong> affecting around <strong>135,386 vehicles<\/strong> in the United States. The NHTSA stated that improper installation of the <strong>B+ positive terminal cover<\/strong> during assembly could result in an electrical short if the car crashes, creating a <strong>fire hazard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue was first identified last year during a <strong>crash test of a 2024 Santa Fe<\/strong>, when a \u201cthermal event\u201d occurred after impact. Thankfully, Hyundai clarified that <strong>no incidents have been reported in real-world conditions<\/strong> across North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddf0 What Hyundai Owners Should Do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hyundai has said that all affected vehicle owners in Canada will receive <strong>direct notification by mail<\/strong>. The company will advise them to <strong>visit a Hyundai dealership<\/strong>, where technicians will <strong>inspect and reinstall the terminal cover<\/strong> if necessary \u2014 free of cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owners are also encouraged to contact <strong>Hyundai Canada\u2019s customer service<\/strong> or <strong>Transport Canada\u2019s recall database<\/strong> for more details regarding vehicle identification numbers (VINs) included in the recall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u26a0\ufe0f A Reminder on Vehicle Safety<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While the recall affects a limited number of vehicles, it highlights how <strong>even small assembly errors can lead to significant risks<\/strong>.
