TCS\u2019s <strong>CHRO Sudeep Kunnumal<\/strong> explained that around <strong>6,000 employees<\/strong> were part of \u201cinvoluntary attrition,\u201d as the firm adjusts its workforce amid changing business dynamics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Unions Call Layoffs \u2018Cruel and Illegal\u2019<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Employee groups have rejected TCS\u2019s claim of voluntary exits, calling the layoffs coercive and unethical. They allege that employees were <strong>moved to the bench without notice<\/strong>, pressured to resign within hours, and even <strong>female staff on maternity leave<\/strong> were threatened with termination if they sought extensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>NITES Accuses TCS of Downplaying Layoffs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>National Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES)<\/strong> also criticized TCS for omitting headcount and attrition data in its <strong>BSE Q2 filing<\/strong>, accusing the company of <strong>under-reporting layoffs<\/strong>. NITES and other unions are demanding a government investigation into TCS\u2019s compliance with labour laws and protection for affected employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Call for Government Intervention<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Unions have urged authorities to ensure that IT companies follow due process before mass terminations. They argue that such incidents highlight the <strong>lack of labour regulation in the IT\/ITES sector<\/strong>, which continues to operate under exemptions not afforded to other industries.
