India has developed a fully homegrown “4G stack” along with the complete set of tools and technology to run mobile networks, making it the fifth country in the world to achieve this after Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the \u201cMade-in-India 4G stack is also export ready,\u201d highlighting its potential to serve as a medium for India\u2019s business outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India Becomes Fifth Country Globally to Develop Fully Homegrown 4G Stack<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The indigenous 4G telecom stack includes software and tools necessary for operating fourth-generation telecom services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modi emphasized that this development is a significant step toward digital self-reliance and technological independence, ensuring seamless connectivity, fast internet, and reliable services for Indian citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government is accelerating reforms and creating attractive investment opportunities to boost local manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modi mentioned that the government is financing test beds for technologies like 5G, 6G, advanced optical communications, and tera-hertz, enabling product development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India has become the second-largest 5G market and leads globally in per-user data consumption.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modi highlighted that \u201cthe cost of one GB of wireless data is less than the price of a cup of tea,\u201d demonstrating India\u2019s affordable data pricing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India Targets 10% Share of Global 6G Patents<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that India aims to secure 10% of global patents in 6G technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scindia added that the 6G telecom service is expected to contribute $1.2 trillion to India\u2019s GDP by 2035.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scindia also said, \u201cIndia is no longer a mere consumer of technology. We strive to be the architects of the future of technology. From our indigenous 4G stack and 5G stack to open RAN prototypes for 6G, we are building sovereign capabilities across chip design, secure core, satellite backhaul, and AI native networks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) expects over 1.5 lakh visitors and 7,000 delegates from more than 150 countries, making it Asia\u2019s largest telecom, media, and technology event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramakrishna P, CEO of IMC, said, \u201cWith high-impact summits on transformative technologies like 6G, AI, Satcom, Cybersecurity and unprecedented collaboration with over 30 government ministries, IMC 2025 is the definitive platform where global leaders and Indian policymakers will unite to co-create and accelerate our nation’s digital future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 1,600 new technology use-cases in areas such as 5G, 6G, AI, smart mobility, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and green technology will be showcased at the four-day event organized jointly by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S.P. Kochhar, Director General of COAI, remarked, \u201cToday’s IMC inauguration marks an excellent beginning for a programme rooted in innovation and technological progress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event reflects India\u2019s growing leadership in telecom innovation and its commitment to building sovereign technological capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
