The deal, unveiled on <strong>October 6, 2025<\/strong>, marks one of the largest GPU deployments in history and will significantly scale OpenAI\u2019s compute capacity over the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement kicks off with an <strong>initial 1 GW deployment of AMD Instinct\u2122 MI450 Series GPUs in the second half of 2026<\/strong>, with further expansions leading up to the full 6 GW buildout. Under the new deal, the companies will jointly optimise hardware and software roadmaps, ensuring peak performance and efficiency for massive-scale AI workloads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AMD will serve as a <strong>core strategic compute partner<\/strong>, helping OpenAI meet skyrocketing demand for AI infrastructure. As part of the deal, AMD has issued <strong>warrants for up to 160 million shares<\/strong> of its common stock to OpenAI, vesting in stages as GPU deployments scale and performance milestones are achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cBuilding AI for the Future\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>AMD CEO <strong>Dr. Lisa Su<\/strong> hailed the partnership as a \u201ctrue win-win,\u201d combining AMD\u2019s leadership in high-performance computing with OpenAI\u2019s pioneering work in generative AI.
