Setty<\/strong> highlighted the bank\u2019s pivotal role in India\u2019s economic ecosystem. With a <strong>20% share in loans<\/strong> and a <strong>23% share in deposits<\/strong>, SBI is often seen as a reflection of the broader Indian economy. For over two decades, its assets have consistently represented <strong>20% of the country\u2019s GDP<\/strong> \u2014 a figure Setty now wants to push to <strong>25%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Focus on Emerging Sectors and New Opportunities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Setty emphasized the need to channel resources into <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/startuptalky.com\/news\/sbi-aims-to-hold-one-quarter-of-indian-economys-assets\/?utm_source=inshorts&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=fullarticle\">emerging industries<\/a><\/strong> like <strong>green hydrogen, semiconductors, and battery storage<\/strong>, which will shape India\u2019s economic future. To support these sectors, SBI is setting up a <strong>\u201cCentre of Excellence\u201d<\/strong>, a coordinated body focused on industry collaboration and financing innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These investments will not only fuel new growth engines but also enhance SBI\u2019s capacity to support India\u2019s evolving industrial landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Expanding Global Operations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SBI is also strengthening its <strong>international presence<\/strong>, which currently accounts for <strong>10% of its total balance sheet<\/strong>. The bank plans to raise this to <strong>12\u201313%<\/strong> by expanding operations beyond its existing <strong>29 countries and 240+ touchpoints<\/strong>. Its overseas branches play a crucial role in enabling Indian corporations to <strong>access foreign markets and secure funding<\/strong>, particularly through <strong>external commercial borrowings (ECBs)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Driving India\u2019s Global Financial Ambitions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As India marches towards its 2047 vision, SBI\u2019s growth strategy reflects a broader push to position Indian institutions at the heart of global finance.
