NITES Flags Violation of Labour Laws<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES)<\/strong> filed a complaint with the government, accusing<\/a> TCS of violating the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947<\/strong> by terminating employees without prior notification.
According to NITES president Harpreet Singh Saluja<\/strong>, the union has requested urgent government intervention to safeguard employee rights. Acting on the complaint, the Union Labour Ministry<\/strong> has directed the Maharashtra Labour Secretary<\/strong> to take necessary action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mid- and Senior-Level Staff Hit Hardest<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The affected employees are mostly mid- to senior-level professionals<\/strong>, many of whom are over 40 years old<\/strong> and have spent 10\u201320 years<\/strong> with the company.
\u201cThese employees carry significant financial burdens, including EMIs, school fees, and medical expenses<\/strong>, and finding new jobs in the current market is extremely difficult,\u201d NITES said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The union urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis<\/strong> to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Ensure affected employees receive their legal entitlements<\/strong> under the Industrial Disputes Act.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Halt further terminations until due legal process<\/strong> is followed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Hold TCS\u2019s top management accountable<\/strong> for alleged labour law violations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    TCS Denies Allegations, Calls Claims \u201cMisinformation\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    TCS has dismissed the allegations<\/strong> as misinformation, saying that only a small number of employees<\/strong> were impacted by its ongoing workforce realignment<\/strong>. The company added that all affected workers received severance benefits and support<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Layoffs Part of a Larger Restructuring Plan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    In July 2025<\/strong>, TCS announced that it would cut about 12,000 jobs<\/strong> \u2014 around 2% of its global workforce<\/strong> \u2014 as part of a major restructuring strategy.
