Those who have been \u201c<strong>on the bench<\/strong>\u201d \u2014 without an active project \u2014 for more than <strong>eight months<\/strong> are also being asked to leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the <strong>National Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES)<\/strong>, more than <strong>2,500 employees in Pune<\/strong> alone were forced to resign, and the total number of layoffs could exceed <strong>12,000<\/strong>, roughly <strong>2% of TCS\u2019s global workforce<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Severance Packages and Benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To reduce the impact, TCS is offering <strong>severance packages ranging from six months to two years of salary<\/strong>, depending on the employee\u2019s tenure. All affected staff will receive a <strong>three-month notice period pay<\/strong> before the severance payout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Employees with <strong>10\u201315 years of experience<\/strong> may get up to <strong>1.5 years\u2019 salary<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those without projects for extended periods will receive <strong>three months\u2019 severance<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Senior employees<\/strong> nearing retirement can opt for <strong>early retirement with full benefits<\/strong>, including insurance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support for Career Transition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond financial support, TCS is also providing <strong>career transition assistance<\/strong> such as <strong>outplacement services<\/strong> and covering <strong>recruitment agency fees for up to three months<\/strong> for junior employees. The company says this approach is part of a <strong>proactive strategy to future-proof its workforce<\/strong> and align talent with emerging digital priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why TCS Is Restructuring Now<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The layoffs reflect a broader industry shift where <strong>AI, automation, and cloud computing<\/strong> are reshaping traditional IT roles.
