Employees who accepted deferred exit packages will officially resign starting Tuesday, with many having been on paid leave since leaving their agencies months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to federal HR estimates, the administration is on track to lose around <strong>300,000 employees by the end of 2025<\/strong>, marking a <strong>12.5% reduction<\/strong> since Trump\u2019s return to office. Former adviser <strong>Elon Musk<\/strong> is said to have played a major role in shaping the downsizing initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concerns Over \u201cBrain Drain\u201d and Loss of Expertise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Experts warn that the large-scale resignations could result in a severe <strong>\u201cbrain drain\u201d<\/strong> from the government.<br>\u201cIt takes years to develop the expertise required to run essential programs. Much of that knowledge is now walking out the door,\u201d said <strong>Don Moynihan<\/strong>, professor at the Ford School of Public Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agencies are already struggling to execute key functions, with gaps in critical areas such as <strong>weather forecasting, food safety, health programs, and space exploration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Departments Hit Hard<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>National Weather Service (NWS):<\/strong> Nearly 200 employees, including senior meteorologists and technical experts, have left, affecting forecasting capabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Department of Agriculture (USDA):<\/strong> Around 1,200 workers (17% of staff) exited, including specialists in food safety and toxin detection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Health Agencies:<\/strong> The <strong>FDA<\/strong> and <strong>CDC<\/strong> together lost nearly 6,000 employees as part of the buyout plan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>NASA:<\/strong> About 4,000 employees, including top engineers and scientists, accepted the offer, raising concerns about future space missions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Future Uncertain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While officials claim essential services will continue, unions and policy experts warn that the federal government faces a long-term talent crisis.
