Developers have approached the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) seeking relief, but interim orders have not been granted. Notably, JSW Energy\u2019s plea was declined, with the next hearing scheduled for October 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials explained that India\u2019s surging power demand, driven by rising incomes, industrialization, mechanized farming, and urbanization, has prompted stricter grid rules. While the government remains<\/a> committed to its 2030 target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity, the existing transmission network of 495,000 circuit kilometers is under significant strain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developers Face Tougher Grid Rules Amid Connectivity Revocations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Central Transmission Utility of India (CTUIL) inspected projects manually before revoking access and aims to free up transmission lines for viable ventures. Developers argue, however, that delays alone should not justify cancellations. Adani Green Energy clarified that there was \u201cno connectivity revocation on account of delay in project commissioning dates.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In tightening rules, authorities have prohibited developers from changing the source of generation after securing grid access. Promoters are also required to retain control until commissioning.
