The 58.19-km stretch will directly connect Central Silk Board Junction with <strong>Kempegowda International Airport (KIA)<\/strong>. Pura).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Phase 2B<\/strong>: 38.44 km from K.R. Pura to the airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, these phases come at a cost of <strong>\u20b914,788 crore<\/strong>, making it one of the city\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/cities\/bengaluru-news\/bengalurus-orr-airport-metro-line-set-for-december-2027-completion-report-101757385752597.html\">costliest<\/a> but most crucial Metro projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Progress on Track Despite Delays<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to BMRCL, civil works had reached <strong>52.5% completion<\/strong> by June 30, 2025. The project had suffered a nine-month pause in 2023 after a fatal incident at HBR Layout, but construction on the airport section has since regained momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stations Inside the Airport Campus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL)<\/strong> is constructing two stations within the airport premises. The <strong>Airport City Station<\/strong> will be built at ground level, while the <strong>Airport Terminal Station<\/strong> will be a semi-underground facility, 7\u20138 metres below the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Passenger-Friendly Features<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Blue Line will feature <strong>driverless trains<\/strong> equipped with luggage racks and advanced safety systems, designed specifically to meet the needs of air travellers. This makes it the first Metro corridor in Bengaluru with airport-focused passenger facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inspection and Quality Review<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>BMRCL Managing Director J. Ravishankar recently inspected the corridor between KIA and Hebbal. His review covered viaduct construction, station works, and the Shettigere depot. He also assessed complex structures near IAF land, emphasising timely delivery and adherence to safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Boost to City Connectivity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once operational, the Blue Line will significantly ease airport travel for commuters from Bengaluru\u2019s <strong>southern, eastern, and northern suburbs<\/strong>.
