Countries halting shipments include <strong>Australia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and Mexico<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Universal Postal Union (UPU)<\/strong>, which coordinates cooperation between postal services of 192 member nations, warned that the new requirement would \u201centail considerable operational changes.\u201d At least 25 UPU members have already suspended services, while others are considering similar moves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Courier Firms Also Impacted<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Private courier giants are also adjusting. <strong>DHL Group<\/strong> confirmed temporary restrictions on US-bound shipments due to uncertainties about customs duties and data compliance. Similarly, <strong>PostNord<\/strong> (Sweden and Denmark\u2019s state-owned service) and <strong>France\u2019s La Poste<\/strong> suspended parcel deliveries to the US, citing lack of time to adapt to new rules. <strong>India Post<\/strong> also halted all categories of mail to the US worth up to $100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impact on Businesses and Customers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspension is expected to cause <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/world-news\/over-30-countries-halt-postal-services-to-us-after-de-minimis-exemption-removed-india-australia-and-more-on-list-101756537592822.html\">shipping delays and higher costs<\/a><\/strong><sup data-fn=\"cd1bf9f2-b388-4d19-bf0c-d9c66d83d9c9\" class=\"fn\"><a id=\"cd1bf9f2-b388-4d19-bf0c-d9c66d83d9c9-link\" href=\"#cd1bf9f2-b388-4d19-bf0c-d9c66d83d9c9\">1<\/a><\/sup>, with small businesses likely to be the hardest hit. Larger corporations may absorb the shock, but <strong>smaller exporters and e-commerce sellers<\/strong> relying on postal services will face disruptions. US-based platforms like <strong>Etsy and eBay<\/strong> have already issued advisories about potential delays for international buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cornell Professor <strong>Li Chen<\/strong> told AFP that parcel delivery delays are inevitable since every package must now clear customs, adding administrative and cost burdens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the Rule Changed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Trump administration previously pushed for tighter rules on the de minimis exemption, arguing it was being exploited by traffickers to ship fentanyl into the US.
