The new electric boats promise to cut travel time to <strong>less than 40 minutes<\/strong>, offering both speed and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>Sohel Kazani, owner of Bharat Freight Group (BFG)<\/strong>, two vessels will be introduced in the first phase:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>One hybrid vessel<\/strong> powered by solar, electric battery, and diesel backup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>One fully electric vessel<\/strong> capable of charging in under an hour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustainable Design and Passenger Comfort<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Built from <strong>fibre and glass<\/strong> with a modern European design, the electric boats are expected to provide greater stability, comfort, and safety compared to the traditional wooden ferries. Apart from reduced emissions, passengers can look forward to a smoother travel experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative also aligns with India\u2019s broader push towards <strong>green mobility<\/strong> and reducing carbon footprints in metropolitan cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Expansion Plans Underway<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first phase includes two boats, but the <strong>second phase<\/strong> will see the introduction of <strong>four hydrogen-powered vessels<\/strong>, once the necessary generators are installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BFG also has ambitious plans to expand the routes beyond JNPA, with proposed services connecting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>South Mumbai to Elephanta Caves<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Belapur<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alibaug<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Harbour tourism circuits<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These new connections could significantly reduce road congestion, promote eco-tourism, and add a new dimension to urban commuting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Milestone for Mumbai\u2019s Transport Future<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The launch of electric water taxis marks a <strong>major milestone in Mumbai\u2019s transport evolution<\/strong>.
