This follows robust projections for 2030, when India\u2019s economy could hit <strong>$20.7 trillion<\/strong>, outpacing not only the US but also Germany and Japan. The report calls India \u201cthe most dynamic economy in the world,\u201d growing <strong>2.3 to 3.6 times faster than the US<\/strong> in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Milestones in Market Exchange Terms<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While PPP is the long-term focus, India is also climbing the ranks in market exchange terms. EY notes that India will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Surpass Japan by FY26<\/strong>, becoming the <strong>fourth-largest economy<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Overtake Germany by FY29<\/strong>, rising to the <strong>third-largest economy globally<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By 2038, move ahead of the US in PPP, positioning itself as the <strong>world\u2019s second-largest economy<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fiscal Discipline and Investment Strengths<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>India\u2019s fiscal health and investment-driven growth play a critical role in this trajectory. The report points out that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India\u2019s <strong>government debt-to-GDP ratio<\/strong> is projected to fall from <strong>81.3% in 2024 to 75.8% in 2030<\/strong>, unlike the US, Germany, and China, where the ratio is set to rise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The country maintains a <strong>high gross capital formation (above 30%)<\/strong>, supporting infrastructure and industry-led growth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India\u2019s <strong>final consumption expenditure-to-GDP ratio<\/strong> of over 71% shows the strong domestic demand driving the economy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trump\u2019s Tariffs: A Minor Hiccup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, the report was released the same day that <strong>US President Donald Trump\u2019s 50% tariffs on Indian goods<\/strong> came into effect. EY estimates that these tariffs may shave off no more than <strong>10 basis points (0.1%)<\/strong> of India\u2019s GDP. The US, however, could face greater pressure due to its <strong>high debt levels<\/strong> and upcoming refinancing needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>India\u2019s resilience, driven by robust consumption, investment, and fiscal prudence, is setting the stage for it to emerge as the world\u2019s <strong>second-largest economy by 2038<\/strong>.
