Bengaluru is one step closer to a major transit upgrade. The fourth driverless metro train<\/strong> for the city’s Yellow Line corridor<\/strong> has been dispatched from Titagarh, West Bengal<\/strong>, and is expected to reach the city within the next two weeks. This development marks a critical milestone in Bengaluru Metro\u2019s expansion journey, especially for residents and commuters in South Bengaluru and Electronic City<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Yellow Line<\/strong>, stretching 19.15 km<\/strong> between RV Road and Bommasandra<\/strong>, is part of Namma Metro’s Phase 2 and is specifically aimed at easing congestion on the heavily trafficked Hosur Road<\/strong>. With the city\u2019s tech workforce and daily commuters relying on this corridor, the line\u2019s launch is eagerly awaited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, three trains are already in Bengaluru<\/strong> and have successfully completed safety tests<\/strong>. The final clearance is now pending from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS)<\/strong>, with the report expected within this week. If things go as planned, commercial operations may begin by the second week of August<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, three driverless trains will operate on the Yellow Line, running at an interval of every 20 minutes<\/strong>. Once the fourth train completes its trial runs<\/strong>, it will be integrated into service to increase frequency and passenger capacity. Eventually, a total of 15 driverless trains<\/strong> are expected to be deployed on this corridor, with deliveries scheduled to be completed by March 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These new trains are driverless, modern, and energy-efficient<\/strong>, representing a leap in public transportation technology for the city. Not only do they reduce dependency on road transport, but they also signal Bengaluru Metro\u2019s progress toward automation and operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch of the Yellow Line is expected to bring faster, safer, and more reliable connectivity<\/strong> to key hubs such as Electronic City, Bommasandra Industrial Area<\/strong>, and Central Silk Board<\/strong>, giving daily commuters a welcome respite from traffic snarls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the countdown to launch underway, Bengaluru\u2019s Yellow Line is poised to redefine urban mobility in one of India\u2019s fastest-growing cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
