This high share of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/railways-to-get-17000-non-ac-coaches-in-next-five-years-says-vaishnaw\/article69874529.ece\"> non-AC coaches<\/a> reflects the Indian Railways\u2019 focus on inclusive and economical transport options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Massive Jump in Passenger Volume Post-COVID<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The post-pandemic period has witnessed a <strong>significant rebound in general class travel<\/strong>. In 2024-25, <strong>651 crore passengers<\/strong> traveled in general and unreserved coaches, up from <strong>553 crore in 2022-23<\/strong> and <strong>609 crore in 2023-24<\/strong>. This surge is also backed by higher coach availability and a steady increase in the number of daily trains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Daily passenger trains increased from <strong>13,169 in 2019-20<\/strong> to <strong>13,940 in 2024-25<\/strong>, marking consistent growth in rail operations.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Seat Availability Remains Largely Non-AC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of the <strong>69 lakh total daily train seats<\/strong>, <strong>54 lakh (78%)<\/strong> are allocated to non-AC classes, and only <strong>15 lakh (22%)<\/strong> to AC classes. This trend further strengthens the need for expanding non-AC services to accommodate India\u2019s large population of price-sensitive travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion: Railways Bet Big on Bharat<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By adding 17,000 more non-AC coaches, Indian Railways is clearly prioritizing <strong>accessibility, inclusivity, and affordability<\/strong>.
