The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/india\/maharashtra-to-launch-own-taxi-app-for-cabs-rickshaws-and-e-bikes-to-end-ola-uber-rule-19645044.htm\">proposed<\/a> app\u2014tentatively named <em>Jai Maharashtra<\/em>, <em>Maha-Ride<\/em>, <em>Maha-Yatri<\/em>, or <em>Maha-Go<\/em>\u2014is being developed with support from the Maharashtra Institute for Transport Technology (MITT), the MITRA Organisation, and private tech partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project\u2019s goal is twofold: challenge the monopolistic control of private aggregators and provide drivers and riders a better, fairer ecosystem. Sarnaik criticized current platforms for high commissions and surge pricing, which he says exploit both passengers and drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Development in Progress<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The app&#8217;s development is underway, with a key review meeting scheduled on August 5 at Mantralaya. Once finalized, the app will be launched following approval from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will be fully compliant with the Central Government\u2019s Aggregator Guidelines, with essential features including real-time tracking, transparent fare structures, driver safety protocols, and grievance redressal systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Financial Support for Youth Participation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To attract youth to this government-backed initiative, the state will offer nearly interest-free loans for vehicle purchases. Mumbai Bank will provide loans at a 10% interest rate, while various state-run development corporations\u2014like the OBC Development Corporation and MSDC\u2014will offer an 11% interest subsidy, making loans effectively zero-interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis will enable thousands of young men and women to become self-reliant,\u201d Sarnaik said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regulation and Enforcement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The transport department has already framed rules for operating bike taxis under the new app, awaiting final clearance.
