Its goal is to enhance women\u2019s health, nutrition, and overall well-being through direct financial assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u20b91,640 Crore Lost to Widespread Fraud<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Ladki Bahin<\/em> scheme has faced repeated scrutiny due to its ballooning costs and widespread misuse. According to the latest government review, <strong>\u20b91,640 crore<\/strong> was lost in just 12 months due to fraudulent claims by various ineligible beneficiaries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>162,000 women<\/strong> from families owning four-wheelers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>287,000 women<\/strong> over 65 years of age<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>797,000 women<\/strong> enrolled as a third family member (only two are allowed)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These categories alone accounted for <strong>over \u20b91,627 crore<\/strong> in wrongful disbursements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.63 Million Ineligible Beneficiaries Detected<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Women and Child Development Department<\/em> found that <strong>2.634 million beneficiaries were ineligible<\/strong>. Payments to them have been stopped. Officials admitted that the <strong>online registration system<\/strong>, while accessible, made it easier for fraudulent entries. Going forward, the department will introduce <strong>physical verification<\/strong> and <strong>income eligibility checks<\/strong> using data from the Income Tax department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recovery and Legal Action on the Cards<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Aditi Tatkare confirmed that the government is coordinating with district collectors to verify data at the grassroots.
