It\u2019s the <strong>first satellite<\/strong> to use this combination, enabling the measurement of ground-level changes with <strong>sub-centimeter precision<\/strong>, regardless of time of day or weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its <strong>12-day revisit cycle<\/strong> and ability to monitor a <strong>242 km swath<\/strong> of the Earth\u2019s surface using <strong>SweepSAR technology<\/strong> will empower scientists with consistent, high-resolution data across diverse terrains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Will NISAR Track and Monitor?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The satellite will have <strong>wide-ranging applications<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Earthquake and landslide risk prediction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring of <strong>glaciers and ice sheets<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detection of <strong>ground deformation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vegetation dynamics<\/strong> and forest biomass mapping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Soil moisture changes<\/strong>, sea ice, storms, and shoreline erosion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rapid disaster response and mapping of <strong>surface water resources<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Crucially, NISAR can <strong>see through clouds<\/strong> and function <strong>day and night<\/strong>, making it ideal for regions like the <strong>Himalayas<\/strong> where cloud cover limits conventional monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A True Technical Partnership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While NASA provided the <strong>L-band radar<\/strong>, 12-metre reflector antenna, GPS receivers, and science data systems, ISRO contributed the <strong>spacecraft bus<\/strong>, <strong>S-band radar<\/strong>, launch vehicle, and launch services.
