New Routes Under Planning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As per The Indian Express<\/em>, a direct link between Central Delhi (Gyarah Murti or Talkatora Stadium) and Gurugram is under discussion<\/a>. This project was recently reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been directed to create a detailed plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multi-City Traffic Decongestion Projects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Another massive project involves constructing a tunnel or elevated corridor to connect the Delhi-Meerut Expressway to the proposed Aiims-Mahipalpur Bypass route. This is aimed at easing the load on Ring Road and the Mehrauli-Gurugram route. All major expressways\u2014including the upcoming DND-Sohna (Jewar) link\u2014currently converge at Sarai Kale Khan, causing a traffic bottleneck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u20b95,000 Crore Project With Strategic Reach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A 20-km elevated corridor from AIIMS to Mahipalpur Bypass is already in the pipeline. This route will stretch to the Gurugram-Faridabad Road, offering a parallel alternative to NH-48. A 5-km tunnel will also connect this corridor to IGI Airport and the Dwarka Expressway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Infrastructure Funding and Expansion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has sought \u20b91,500 crore from the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for key infrastructure upgrades, including roads, drainage systems, and decongestion efforts. The Centre recently took over service lanes on NH9, NH2, and NH148A to ensure better maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Underground Power Cables For Safer Delhi<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In a related move, the government has launched an \u20b98 crore pilot project in Shalimar Bagh to lay underground power lines. With \u20b9100 crore already allocated in the 2025-26 Budget, the goal is to enhance aesthetics, ensure safety, and prevent power disruptions across Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
