India’s second-largest telecom operator, Bharti Airtel is now offering a one-year free subscription to its premium tier, Perplexity Pro<\/a>, to its customers which is in fact an Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered answer engine Perplexity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is noteworthy here that this offer is available to all 360 million prepaid and postpaid mobile customers, and broadband customers of Airtel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to Perplexity, the brand seeks to disrupt Google\u2019s flagship search engine and it has already witnessed the growing adoption of its service in India in recent years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative marks the brand’s first partnership with a telecom operator in India, this is also part of the company\u2019s efforts to drive adoption in the world\u2019s second-largest internet market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not the first time as Perplexity has struck similar deals with other firms such as SoftBank and T-Mobile over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Does It Work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are an Airtel customer then they can avail this subscription through the rewards section of its Airtel Thanks app until January 17, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Perplexity charges $20 (approximately Rs 1,731) per month for its premium subscription service across most of the world, including India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note here that the subscription would not auto-renew as noted by Airtel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So the users will have to upgrade to a paid plan through Perplexity, else their account will automatically switch to the free version. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides this an individual has to be an active Airtel customer for the full 12-month period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Bharti Airtel, Gopal Vittal noted, 4″This collaboration will bring the powerful and real-time knowledge tool for millions of users at their fingertips, at no extra cost. This first of its kind Gen-AI partnership in India is focused on helping our customers navigate the emerging trends in the digital world with confidence and ease.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis partnership is an exciting way to make accurate, trustworthy, and professional-grade AI accessible to more people in India\u2014whether a student, working professional, or managing a household. With Perplexity Pro, users get a smarter, easier way to find information, learn, and get more done,\u201d said Aravind Srinivas, Perplexity co-founder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This move comes after its rival Google offered a one-year free subscription to its premium AI tools to college students in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This offer includes access to the company’s flagship AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Gemini\u2019s Deep Research feature, AI video generator Veo 3, and higher usage limits in NotebookLM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
