{"id":1297557,"date":"2025-07-11T09:35:54","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T04:05:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/?p=1297557"},"modified":"2025-07-11T09:36:30","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T04:06:30","slug":"indian-startups-can-hire-upto-200000-new-employees-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/indian-startups-can-hire-upto-200000-new-employees-this-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Startups Can Hire Upto 200,000 New Employees This Year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On one side India&#8217;s tech startup ecosystem is witnessing early signs of a slowdown on the other hand it is experiencing steady recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime the companies are cautiously expanding their hiring capacity following a prolonged funding winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Hiring-Freshers.jpg\" alt=\"Indian Startups Can Hire Upto 200,000 New Employees This Year\" class=\"wp-image-1297565\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Hiring-Freshers.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Hiring-Freshers-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Hiring-Freshers-768x357.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indian Startups Looking To Hire Thousands Of Employees&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total headcount for funded startups closed at 590,000 in FY25 and is projected to rise to 670,000 in FY26, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/m.rediff.com\/getahead\/report\/startups-could-hire-100000-to-200000\/20250707.htm\">data<\/a> from Xpheno, a specialist staffing firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Market analysts are not expecting these hiring trends to shift dramatically but there is a discernible upward bias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, financial year 25 witnessed a net addition of 60,000, and projections for FY26 suggest a further increase of 80,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can say that in the past five years, the overall tech startup cohort has grown steadily with the closing headcount rising from 250,000 in FY21 to 590,000 in FY25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further representing a gross hiring of 710,000 over this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The analysts are anticipating that this growth in FY26 would come from different sectors including quick commerce, e-retail, marketplaces, fintech (including payments, remittances, lending, and credit), and F&amp;B retail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preference For Leaner Teams<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The co-founder of Xpheno, Anil Ethanur noted, &#8220;The projected net headcount increase this fiscal is driven by these high-growth verticals.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime, 69 percent of employers in the ecommerce and tech startup sectors plan to expand their workforce during the first half of FY26 (April-September) as revealed in the TeamLease Services&#8217; Employment Outlook Report while supporting this outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It appears that this hiring momentum is fuelled by advances in AI-driven product development, growth marketing, and cloud-native engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to CEO-Staffing at TeamLease Services, Kartik Narayan, &#8220;Despite a cautious macro environment, there is a clear shift in how India&#8217;s tech startups are approaching growth and talent.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further adding, &#8220;The focus has shifted from aggressive expansion to building sustainable, value-driven business models.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This change also indicates that the companies are now preferring to form leaner teams with sharper, outcome-oriented skill sets, especially in product and digital roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Narayan added, &#8220;It&#8217;s not just about filling positions; it&#8217;s about building capabilities.The resurgence in hiring signals startups&#8217; growing confidence not just in funding cycles, but in the long-term promise of India&#8217;s digital economy.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, the hiring demand is strongest for high-impact technology and product roles, particularly DevOps engineers, product managers, and full-stack developers as mentioned in the TeamLease report.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On one side India&#8217;s tech startup ecosystem is witnessing early signs of a slowdown on the other hand it is experiencing steady recovery.
