The <strong>\u20b928,429 crore<\/strong> project will be executed by the <strong>Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC)<\/strong> and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mypunepulse.com\/pune-nashik-travel-time-to-be-cut-to-3-hours-government-plans-%E2%82%B928429-crore-expressway\/#google_vignette\">expected<\/a> to be completed within <strong>three years<\/strong> of receiving cabinet clearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project received design approval in February 2023 and will also connect to the <strong>Surat-Chennai Highway<\/strong>, creating a seamless corridor for logistics and freight movement across states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Infrastructure and Land Acquisition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The expressway will feature:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>12 major flyovers<\/strong> across rivers and streams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Key <strong>interchanges<\/strong> at Chimbli, Chakan, and Pabal (Pune); Rajuri, Khandarmal, Sakur, Machi, and Kasare (Ahilyanagar and Nashik)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will pass through <strong>Khed, Shirur, Ambegaon, and Junnar<\/strong> in Pune district, and <strong>Sangamner<\/strong> in Ahilyanagar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approximately <strong>1,545 hectares of land<\/strong> will be acquired for the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities are also considering integration with the <strong>Shirdi route<\/strong>, which could further boost religious tourism and related services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impact on Semi High-Speed Rail and Economy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The expressway\u2019s fast progress may have implications for the delayed <strong>Pune-Nashik Semi High-Speed Rail Project<\/strong>. In June 2023, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar instructed officials to assess if land previously earmarked for the rail project could be repurposed for the expressway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the expressway\u2019s potential economic impact is substantial. It is expected to <strong>accelerate industrial development<\/strong>, <strong>enhance logistics efficiency<\/strong>, and <strong>boost employment<\/strong> across Pune, Ahilyanagar, and Nashik. Sectors such as <strong>manufacturing, warehousing, agriculture, and transport<\/strong> stand to benefit the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Clearance Awaited<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Engineer Ashok Bhalekar of the Road Development Authority confirmed that the project is awaiting cabinet nod.
