Wipro added <strong>732 employees<\/strong>, and Tech Mahindra added <strong>3,276<\/strong>. Hiring at <strong>lower wage levels<\/strong> has shifted the salary midpoint down, especially with fewer mid- and senior-level employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Leadership Churn and Fresh Talent Strategy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Both companies experienced <strong>leadership churn<\/strong>, with Tech Mahindra losing over <strong>20 senior leaders<\/strong> since March 2024 and Wipro witnessing exits of <strong>30+ senior executives<\/strong> in the past two years. The strategic focus has shifted towards <strong>internal promotions and cost optimization<\/strong>, especially under new leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In Contrast, TCS and Infosys Raise Salaries<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While Wipro and Tech Mahindra trimmed pay, <strong>TCS and Infosys<\/strong> reported <strong>median salary increases<\/strong> of <strong>6.3%<\/strong> and <strong>9.6%<\/strong>, respectively. <strong>HCLTech<\/strong>, whose report is pending, has never reported a fall in median pay in the last decade. In contrast, Tech Mahindra has reported such a drop <strong>six times<\/strong>, and Wipro <strong>three times<\/strong> in ten years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Margins Up, Revenues Down<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the salary cuts, <strong>Wipro and Tech Mahindra improved their operating margins<\/strong>\u2014Wipro by <strong>100 basis points to 17.1%<\/strong>, and Tech Mahindra by a substantial <strong>360 basis points to 9.7%<\/strong>. Yet, both saw <strong>revenue declines<\/strong> for the second consecutive year\u2014<strong>2.72% for Wipro<\/strong> and <strong>0.21% for Tech Mahindra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experts say the companies are capitalizing on a <strong>surplus of experienced professionals<\/strong> in a <strong>sluggish job market<\/strong>, often hiring at <strong>lower pay scales<\/strong>.
