This satellite will be positioned at <strong>geostationary orbit (GEO)<\/strong>, around 35,786 km above Earth, and is capable of covering the entire Indian subcontinent with a single satellite. Ananth has committed <strong>\u20b93,000 crore<\/strong> initially, with more funding planned based on demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>GEO vs LEO: A Strategic Choice<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike international players such as <strong>Starlink (SpaceX)<\/strong>, <strong>OneWeb<\/strong>, and <strong>Amazon&#8217;s Project Kuiper<\/strong>, which use <strong>Low Earth Orbit (LEO)<\/strong> satellites for low-latency connectivity, Ananth is taking the GEO route. While <strong>LEO offers lower latency<\/strong>, <strong>GEO satellites cover wider areas<\/strong>, making them ideal for large regions like India. This strategy could help reduce infrastructure costs while reaching underserved areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rising Competition in India\u2019s Satellite Internet Space<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ananth&#8217;s entry adds to an already intensifying race. <strong>Starlink<\/strong> has received a draft letter of intent from IN-SPACe and is nearing full approval. It joins the ranks of authorised players such as <strong>Eutelsat OneWeb<\/strong> and <strong>Jio Satellite<\/strong>. Starlink already holds a <strong>GMPCS licence<\/strong>, making it eligible to offer satellite broadband in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Vodafone Idea&#8217;s Bold Move in Space<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Vodafone Idea (Vi)<\/strong> recently partnered with <strong>AST SpaceMobile<\/strong>, a US-based firm building the world&#8217;s first cellular broadband network from space. AST successfully completed the <strong>first voice and video call from space using a standard smartphone<\/strong>, showcasing a revolutionary leap in space-based mobile services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>India\u2019s Private Space Race Heats Up<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>India&#8217;s satcom landscape is undergoing rapid transformation.
