This decision has been made in view of the approval of new metro routes and the increasing crowd in the metro.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Union Cabinet Approving Two Elevated Corridors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The development is followed by the Union Cabinet\u2019s clearance of two elevated corridors a few days ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This would be part of the Phase 2 which will be extending from Vanaz to Chandani Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi, stretching 12.75 km and featuring 13 stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this project, they have allocated a budget of Rs 3,626 crore for execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pune is \u201cdeveloping in every sector\u201d and the Metro\u2019s expansion \u201cwill boost public transport and make people\u2019s lives easier,\u201d remarked by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are planning to serve the key IT hubs with these extensions including the commercial zones, educational institutions, and residential pockets, enhancing ridership across the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are expecting to grow it from 0.96 lakh in 2027 to 3.49 lakh by 2057 with these projections of daily ridership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is further prompting the pre-emptive addition of new trains to accommodate the increasing demand in future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The execution of this project will be overseen by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited with pre-construction activities such as topographical surveys and design consultancy already underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the officials, these new corridors will ease the congestion on arterial routes like Paud Road and Nagar Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This would provide safer and greener mobility options for Pune\u2019s burgeoning population.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently updates are coming from the Union Cabinet as they are under the process of approving Phase 2 for the Pune Metro Rail Project.
