Instead of the current practice of preparing charts four hours before train departure, <strong>the new system will finalize charts eight hours in advance<\/strong>. It will give them <strong>more time to check confirmation status<\/strong>, make alternative travel plans, or even cancel in time if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The update is expected to <strong>greatly help those traveling from remote or suburban locations<\/strong>, giving them clarity on their ticket status well before they begin their journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New PRS to Handle 1.5 Lakh Bookings Per Minute<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside the charting revision, Indian Railways is working on a <strong>complete overhaul of its Passenger Reservation System (PRS)<\/strong>, aiming for a December rollout. Once launched, the new system will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support <strong>1.5 lakh ticket bookings per minute<\/strong> (5X current capacity)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Handle <strong>over 40 lakh ticket enquiries per minute<\/strong> (10X current)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer a <strong>multilingual and user-friendly interface<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allow users to <strong>select seat preferences and view fare calendars<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The PRS upgrade is being developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) and is expected to drastically improve the speed and ease of ticket booking across India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tatkal Bookings to Get Mandatory User Authentication<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From <strong>July 1<\/strong>, the IRCTC website and app will enforce <strong>mandatory user authentication<\/strong> for <strong>Tatkal ticket bookings<\/strong>. This move aims to curb misuse and ensure fair access to high-demand Tatkal quotas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With these major tech and policy upgrades, Indian Railways is stepping into a more efficient, transparent, and commuter-friendly era.
