The Bengaluru\u2013Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express is nearing operational status, with electrification work almost complete and major infrastructure upgrades in progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project aims to improve travel speed, comfort, and regional connectivity between Bengaluru and Mangaluru.<\/a>

This development will benefit several Karnataka districts, enhancing the state\u2019s role as a next-generation rail hub.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Electrification progress includes 22 kilometres already completed, with the remaining 33 kilometres underway.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fully electrified route will serve commuters in Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Hassan, and Mangaluru districts.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities are working to make the route operational within this year, supporting quicker and more efficient travel between Karnataka\u2019s commercial and coastal centers.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hassan\u2013Mangaluru stretch is one of the most technically challenging sections, with 57 tunnels and 700 bridges.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A survey has been conducted to double the existing Hassan\u2013Mangaluru rail line to accommodate future demand.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u20b950,000 Crore DPR Underway to Double Hassan\u2013Mangaluru Rail Line for Future Expansion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Detailed Project Report (DPR) is in preparation for this doubling, with the project estimated to cost \u20b950,000 crore.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After tendering, the project is expected to significantly upgrade the transport infrastructure in the region.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work is also moving forward on connecting rail routes, including the 68-kilometre Kadur\u2013Chikkamagaluru\u2013Belur line, which is close to completion.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials have been directed to complete land acquisition for the Belur\u2013Hassan section by July 20.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These connected lines will act as feeder routes to the Vande Bharat corridor, enhancing access and promoting growth in smaller towns.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karnataka currently operates ten Vande Bharat Express services; the Bengaluru\u2013Mangaluru route will be the eleventh.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Existing routes include Bengaluru\u2013Dharwad, Mangaluru\u2013Madgaon, and Mysuru\u2013Chennai.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new route highlights Karnataka\u2019s efforts to modernize its transport system through high-speed rail development.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This expansion is intended to meet increasing commuter demand and reduce road traffic congestion.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bengaluru\u2013Mangaluru Vande Bharat route is set to transform intercity travel across Karnataka.

With much of the electrification done and infrastructure planning underway, the project reflects a broader vision for seamless and modern mobility.
