Before large-scale production can begin, this shell will undergo rigorous testing. <strong>Abhishek Mishra<\/strong>, the factory&#8217;s Public Relations Officer, confirmed that all essential systems for sleeper coach production are in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Production will commence in phases under a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/swarajyamag.com\/news-brief\/vande-bharat-sleeper-express-from-latur-factory-with-16-coaches-160-kmph-speed-to-roll-out-by-june-next-year-report\">contract<\/a> between Indian Railways and private firm Kinet<\/strong>, marking a significant public-private partnership in India&#8217;s rail manufacturing sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Design, Capacity, and Speed Highlights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each <strong>Vande Bharat Sleeper rake will consist of 16 coaches<\/strong>, designed to accommodate <strong>823 passengers<\/strong>. Built for <strong>maximum speeds of 160 kmph<\/strong>, these coaches will offer modern amenities, including <strong>three toilets and a pantry per coach<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The estimated cost of producing one rake is <strong>Rs 120 crore<\/strong>, reflecting the advanced engineering and passenger comfort features being incorporated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Facility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Spread across <strong>351 acres<\/strong>, the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory employs nearly <strong>10,000 people<\/strong> and features world-class infrastructure. The facility includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>11 high-tech assembly stations<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dedicated workshops<\/strong> for bogie fitting, painting, and car body assembly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An <strong>8.6-kilometre internal track network<\/strong> for testing and coach movement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, the plant will roll out <strong>two rakes (32 coaches)<\/strong>. In the long term, the factory is expected to manufacture <strong>up to 1,920 sleeper coaches<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Maintenance Depots Being Planned<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To support operations, Indian Railways is planning <strong>maintenance depots<\/strong> in <strong>Delhi, Bengaluru, and Jodhpur<\/strong>. These will ensure streamlined upkeep once the sleeper trains hit the tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Passengers to Wait a Bit Longer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While this new sleeper variant of the Vande Bharat promises improved comfort and faster long-distance travel, <strong>passengers will need to wait until mid-2026<\/strong> to experience it.
