These cameras will automatically scan the number plates of entering vehicles and cross-check the data with the central VAHAN database to determine vehicle age and fuel type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If identified as EOL, the vehicle will not be refueled. The system will also alert enforcement agencies, potentially triggering <strong>immediate impounding and fines<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hefty Penalties and Impounding on the Spot<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to officials, <strong>impounded vehicles will incur penalties of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/industry\/auto\/delhi-to-impound-old-vehicles-at-fuel-stations-starting-july-1-caqm-125062701219_1.html\">\u20b910,000 for four-wheelers and \u20b95,000 for two-wheelers<\/a><\/strong>, plus towing and parking fees. The vehicle owner will also have to sign an undertaking confirming that the vehicle will not be used or parked in public areas within Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the vehicle is to be taken out of Delhi, the owner must obtain a <strong>No Objection Certificate (NOC)<\/strong> within one year of its expiry date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Widening the Net: NCR Cities Next<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The anti-pollution initiative will expand to <strong>Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, and Sonipat<\/strong> starting <strong>November 1<\/strong>, with ANPR cameras installed by <strong>October 31<\/strong>. Other NCR districts have until <strong>March 31, 2026<\/strong>, to comply, with fuel bans starting <strong>April 1, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the CAQM plans to roll out this mechanism at <strong>Delhi\u2019s 156 entry points<\/strong>, targeting buses and heavy goods vehicles as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Massive EOL Vehicle Count in NCR<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Delhi alone has <strong>6.2 million EOL vehicles<\/strong>, including <strong>4.1 million two-wheelers<\/strong>, while <strong>4.4 million EOL vehicles<\/strong> exist in other NCR districts. Despite earlier Supreme Court and NGT orders, progress on removing these vehicles has been slow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Call for Cleaner Alternatives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials have urged EOL vehicle owners to scrap their outdated vehicles and shift to <strong>electric vehicles or public transportation<\/strong>, in line with Delhi\u2019s clean air goals.
