The number peaked in 2024\u201325 with <strong>807 million reserved tickets booked<\/strong>, the highest since 2014\u201315.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Unreserved Bookings Rebound in Suburban Regions<\/strong><br>While reserved ticket bookings have surged, unreserved class bookings tell a mixed story. Suburban areas have seen a steady recovery in unreserved bookings since the pandemic.<br>In 2021\u201322, <strong>2,194 million unreserved tickets<\/strong> were booked in suburban regions. This number climbed to 3,834 million in 2022\u201323, 4,026 million in 2023\u201324, and <strong>4,201 million in 2024\u201325<\/strong>, showing consistent growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Non-Suburban Unreserved Travel Still Below Pre-COVID Levels<\/strong><br>Unreserved bookings in <strong>non-suburban areas<\/strong>, however, remain below pre-pandemic levels. Between 2014\u201315 and 2019\u201320, bookings in this segment were strong. But the numbers drastically fell during COVID-19, with only <strong>76 million bookings in 2020\u201321<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recovery has been gradual:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>582 million in 2021\u201322<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1,826 million in 2022\u201323<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2,150 million in 2023\u201324<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2,360 million in 2024\u201325<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the recovery, the pace remains slower compared to suburban travel and reserved class bookings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Changing Travel Trends Post-Pandemic<\/strong><br>The data highlights a major <strong>post-pandemic transformation<\/strong> in the way Indians travel by train.
