Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has inaugurated the country\u2019s largest in-plant automobile railway siding at its Manesar manufacturing plant in Haryana. The facility was jointly unveiled by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. This marks MSIL\u2019s second in-plant siding, following its Gujarat facility, and is a significant part of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maruti Suzuki\u2019s Manesar Railway Siding to Boost Green Logistics and Rail-Based Dispatches<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Manesar railway siding was developed under the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) by the Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation Ltd (HORCL), where Maruti Suzuki holds a 13% stake. The automaker invested \u20b9452 crores in the project, including \u20b9127 crores for the internal yard. Spanning 46 acres, the fully electrified siding includes four rake-length tracks, one engine escape line<\/a>, and a total track length of 8.2 km. It is capable of dispatching 4.5 lakh vehicles annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This facility is projected to help reduce 1.75 lakh tonnes of CO\u2082 equivalent emissions and save 60 million litres of fuel each year. It is a major step in Maruti Suzuki\u2019s target to dispatch 35% of its vehicles by rail by FY2030\u201331. Since FY2014\u201315, the company has transported 25 lakh vehicles through the Indian Railways network. The Manesar siding will serve both domestic markets\u2014reaching 380 cities across 17 hubs\u2014and export ports like Mundra and Pipavav.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maruti\u2019s Manesar Siding Strengthens GatiShakti Vision and Climate Commitments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The siding connects to the 126 km HORC corridor linking Sonipat and Palwal, with a total project cost of \u20b911,709 crores. Other key stakeholders in HORC include HRIDC, HSIIDC, GMDA, and All Cargo Logistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MSIL MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi emphasized that the project aligns with India\u2019s climate goals and Maruti\u2019s commitment to sustainability. It supports the UN\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals and showcases the company\u2019s focus on green, multi-modal logistics under the GatiShakti vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
