The depot will feature:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>64 stabling lines<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>20 maintenance lines<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Automated train wash systems<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Heavy maintenance bays<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Centralized control centers<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The depot will play a crucial role in ensuring <strong>daily inspections, testing, and overhauls<\/strong> for <a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/cities\/mumbai\/thane-mogharpada-mumbai-metro-largest-depot-10068327\/\">metro trains, particularly<\/a> during non-peak hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Supporting 12 Lakh Daily Commuters<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Metro Lines 4 and 4A\u2014from <strong>Wadala to Kasarvadavali and Gaimukh<\/strong>\u2014are expected to serve over <strong>12 lakh commuters daily<\/strong>, reducing travel time by up to <strong>50%<\/strong>. Once complete, the Mogharpada depot will also cater to <strong>future lines 10 and 11<\/strong>, strengthening connectivity across the <strong>eastern suburbs of Mumbai and Thane<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. <strong>Sanjay Mukherjee<\/strong>, MMRDA Commissioner, called the depot \u201ca cornerstone in Mumbai\u2019s journey toward a more connected and commuter-centric future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Farmer-First Model for Land Acquisition<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To facilitate smooth land acquisition, MMRDA adopted a <strong>farmer-first model<\/strong>, inspired by CIDCO:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>22.5% of the land<\/strong> to be returned to leaseholder farmers as developed plots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>12.5% to encroachers<\/strong>, with roads and infrastructure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Two public hearings<\/strong> were conducted with participation from local farmers and authorities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, <strong>198 offer letters<\/strong> have been issued under this model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Milestone in Maharashtra\u2019s Transit Vision<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Minister <strong>Devendra Fadnavis<\/strong> praised the acquisition, calling it a \u201clandmark development\u201d that fast-tracks <strong>sustainable and multimodal transport<\/strong> for Mumbai.
