Chief Minister <strong>Chandrababu Naidu<\/strong> said the reform is part of a <strong>broader development strategy<\/strong> aimed at improving <strong>work-life balance and job creation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis initiative can help us strike a better work-life balance,\u201d Naidu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Women Allowed to Work Night Shifts with Safeguards<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the notable changes in the law is the provision that <strong>permits women to work night shifts<\/strong> from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., provided <strong>transport and safety measures<\/strong> are ensured. While hailed by some as a <strong>step toward gender equality<\/strong>, critics stressed the need for <strong>strict implementation and monitoring<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A user on social media said: \u201cThe new Factories Amendment Bill is a step toward industrial reform, but workers\u2019 rights and safety must remain paramount.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Unions and Public Voice Strong Opposition<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Trade unions condemned the move as <strong>exploitative<\/strong>. \u201cThis is a betrayal. The policy will turn workers into slaves,\u201d a union leader told <em>The Times of India<\/em>. Critics online called the change <strong>regressive<\/strong>, saying it places <strong>corporate interests above worker welfare<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, \u201cIncreasing factory work hours and overtime in Andhra Pradesh is a regressive move that prioritises \u2018ease of doing business\u2019 over workers\u2019 rights and well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>More Overtime, Longer Shifts Stir Concern<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The amended law also <strong>raises the overtime cap to 144 hours per quarter<\/strong> and allows for <strong>12-hour workdays<\/strong> under certain conditions.
