This is the <strong>first-ever deployment of CORAS in Jammu and Kashmir<\/strong>, marking a strategic shift from their earlier roles in Naxal-affected regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each of the two Vande Bharat trains will be guarded by <a href=\"https:\/\/statetimes.in\/rpfs-commandos-for-railway-security-to-protect-jk-vande-bharat-trains\/\"><strong>15 commandos and one supervisor<\/strong>,<\/a> with personnel stationed in <strong>Budgam (Kashmir)<\/strong> and <strong>Katra (Reasi)<\/strong>. These commandos were visible during the train\u2019s inaugural run and will continue to secure daily operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Security Is a Priority<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The deployment reflects the <strong>sensitive nature of railway travel in J&amp;K<\/strong>, particularly due to the region\u2019s strategic and political significance. The government aims to assure passengers of both <strong>comfort and safety<\/strong>, especially with increased connectivity to religious hubs like <strong>Mata Vaishno Devi shrine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Trains Built for Harsh Climates<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Vande Bharat trains are designed to <strong>withstand Kashmir\u2019s extreme winters<\/strong>. Features include <strong>advanced heating systems<\/strong>, <strong>frost-resistant windshields<\/strong>, and <strong>well-insulated interiors<\/strong>, allowing year-round travel across the mountainous terrain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>USBRL: A Game-Changer for Connectivity<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>USBRL project<\/strong>, spanning <strong>272 km<\/strong> and costing approximately <strong>Rs 43,780 crore<\/strong>, includes <strong>36 tunnels (119 km)<\/strong> and <strong>943 bridges<\/strong>, including the <strong>world\u2019s highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River<\/strong>.
