The trains will integrate <strong>advanced technologies<\/strong> in passenger safety, signalling, Train Control Management Systems (TCMS), welding, and fabrication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Faster, Cost-Effective, and Made in India<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The project was awarded by Integral Coach Factory in October 2023 and involves designing, manufacturing, and commissioning <strong>two trainsets of eight coaches each<\/strong>, capable of reaching speeds of <strong>280 kmph<\/strong>. While operating speeds will be 249 kmph, this initiative positions India among global high-speed rail manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost is projected at <strong>Rs 866.87 crore<\/strong>, or <strong>Rs 27.86 crore per coach<\/strong>, considerably cheaper than the <strong>Rs 46\u201348 crore<\/strong> per coach of Japanese Shinkansen models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Timeline and Testing Plans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>first coach is expected by FY26-end<\/strong>, followed by extensive trials including <strong>climatic chamber and squeeze tests<\/strong>. Full prototype trials will be held by <strong>December 2026<\/strong> on the <strong>Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor<\/strong>. Once approved, BEML will quickly move into <strong>bulk production of 15 additional cars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Global Expertise, Local Manufacturing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>BEML has partnered with <strong>global design and validation agencies<\/strong> and will involve <strong>independent safety assessors<\/strong> to supervise welding and ensure all protocols are met. The company is also <strong>training manpower and scaling up production capacity<\/strong> to support future rail projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Backed by Japan, Built by India<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The MAHSR project is primarily funded by the <strong>Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)<\/strong>, which is covering <strong>81 per cent<\/strong> of the cost through an ultra-low interest loan of <strong>0.1 per cent<\/strong>. This partnership, along with BEML\u2019s readiness, will help scale India\u2019s high-speed rail capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Glimpse Into the Future<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As India pushes forward under the <strong>National Infrastructure Pipeline<\/strong>, BEML\u2019s bullet train prototype sets the tone for a more connected, faster, and self-reliant rail future.
