This Tuesday State-owned telecom service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) reported<\/a> a net profit of Rs 280 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proves To Be Second Consecutive Profitable Quarter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marked this as the second consecutive profitable quarter, also an indication that this is good going for the  company as they have achieved this for the first time in nearly two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier BSNL had posted a loss of Rs 849 crore during the same period a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This development follows a net profit of Rs 262 crore in the third quarter, marking company\u2019s first return to profitability since 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia said, \u201cfor the first time in 18 years \u2014 back-to-back quarterly net profits. Not just operating profits or positive margins, but actual net profit on a quarterly basis for the second time in a row since 2007.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although, the telecom service provider has notable progress but still their overall loss for FY25 stood at Rs 2,247 crore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It further reflects a significant 58 percent improvement from the Rs 5,370 crore loss which was earlier reported in FY24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continuous Trend Towards Financial Stability<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the growth is suggesting a continuing trend toward financial stability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to the BSNL\u2019s operating revenue, it has rose 7.8% to Rs 20,841 crore in FY25, up from Rs 19,330 crore the previous year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The telecom\u2019s total income grew by 10% year-on-year to Rs 23,427 crore as compared to Rs 21,302 crore in FY24. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we look into its business segments, the revenue from mobility services, including interconnect usage charges, increased by 6% to Rs 7,499 crore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, its Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) segment posted a 10% rise to Rs 2,923 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Followed by the leased lines and enterprise services which witnessed a modest gain of 3.5%, generating Rs 4,096 crore during the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BSNL\u2019s EBITDA more than doubled to `5,396 crore in FY25, up from Rs 2,164 crore in FY24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has resulted in an improved EBITDA margin of 23.01%, compared to 10.15% the previous year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Company\u2019 operational performance has also improved with 27 telecom circles turning EBITDA-positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has battered as earlier it was 17 in FY24, and 10 circles reporting net profits, a notable increase from just three a year earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the BSNL Chairman, Robert J Ravi \u201cWe will not be chasing profits as our end goal. We will be redefining telecom excellence in public service. When we consistently do the right things\u2014provideexcellent service, reach the unreached, innovate for inclusivity\u2014profits will naturally follow as a byproduct of that excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
