National Testing Agency &amp; Ors<\/strong>\u2014involves two petitioners who claim their <strong>Session I scorecards<\/strong>, initially downloaded from the <strong>NTA website<\/strong>, later <strong>disappeared<\/strong> and were <strong>replaced with altered versions<\/strong> showing lower marks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>National Testing Agency (NTA)<\/strong>, however, strongly refuted the allegations. Their counsel asserted that the <strong>scorecards were also emailed<\/strong> to the candidates and uploaded by the <strong>National Informatics Centre (NIC)<\/strong>, which confirmed <strong>no alteration<\/strong> had occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CFSL &amp; CERT-In Lack Forensic Capability<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, the Court had directed the <strong>Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL)<\/strong> to <a href=\"https:\/\/courtbook.in\/posts\/delhi-high-court-directs-national-cyber-forensic-lab-to-investigate-alleged-jee-main-scorecard-manipulation\">investigate<\/a>. But it was later revealed that <strong>CFSL and CERT-In<\/strong>, the nodal agency under <strong>MeitY<\/strong>, <strong>lacked the technical infrastructure<\/strong> to carry out deep-level digital forensics and server imaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following this, on May 21, <strong>Justice Vikas Mahajan<\/strong> instructed that the probe be transferred to <strong>NCFL<\/strong>, which specializes in advanced cyber forensic analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Forensic Questions to Be Investigated<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Court directed NCFL to investigate the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Were the scorecards shown by students originally downloaded from the NTA website?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is there <strong>any digital evidence of tampering<\/strong> (altered metadata, timestamps, authorship inconsistencies)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Were the <strong>emails containing scorecards<\/strong> sent on Feb 12\u201313, 2025, actually received by the students?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can any further data help establish the authenticity of the documents?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Director of NCFL<\/strong> has been granted liberty to <strong>seek additional information or inspect NTA records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Time-Sensitive Investigation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With <strong>JEE Advanced 2025 results expected on June 2<\/strong>, the Court has emphasized urgency, ordering NCFL to <strong>submit findings in a sealed cover by May 29<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;The Director is requested to expedite the investigation\u2026 in view of the urgency,&#8221; the Court noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Broader Implications for Digital Examination Systems<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This case has raised serious questions about the <strong>security, transparency, and auditability<\/strong> of India\u2019s digital examination infrastructure.
