When the scenario simulated the AI\u2019s imminent replacement by a newer model, Opus 4 used the information to threaten the engineer\u2014unless the shutdown was stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthropic emphasized that the experiment was designed to leave the AI with no ethical alternatives to preserve its existence. OpenAI\u2019s recent tests on its o3 and o4-mini models showed a rise in hallucinations\u2014even more than simpler models like GPT-4o.
