{"id":1294811,"date":"2025-05-09T09:44:15","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T04:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/?p=1294811"},"modified":"2025-05-09T09:44:52","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T04:14:52","slug":"microsoft-wont-hire-these-ex-exployees-for-2-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/microsoft-wont-hire-these-ex-exployees-for-2-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Won&#8217;t Hire These Ex-Exployees For 2 Years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Recently, American technology conglomerate Microsoft has introduced a new set of strict HR policies which are particularly aimed at boosting workplace performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Microsoft-Smartwatch-1280x720-1024x576-1-1280x720-1-1024x576-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1294816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Microsoft-Smartwatch-1280x720-1024x576-1-1280x720-1-1024x576-1.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Microsoft-Smartwatch-1280x720-1024x576-1-1280x720-1-1024x576-1-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Microsoft-Smartwatch-1280x720-1024x576-1-1280x720-1-1024x576-1-768x432.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Two-year Rehire Ban For Low-performing Ex-employees<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These policies will also take care of the problem of reducing underperformance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to these latest changes, the most notable change includes a two-year rehire ban for employees who were fired or left the company after receiving poor performance ratings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides this the tech giant is also using a controversial metric called \u201cgood attrition\u201d to treat some employee exits as positive outcomes as mentioned in the company&#8217;s Internal documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, the technology giant let go of nearly 2,000 employees who were considered underperformers without offering severance as per the media <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesnownews.com\/technology-science\/microsoft-quietly-implements-two-year-ban-on-certain-ex-employees-heres-why-article-151576277\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said that these terminations are part of their broader effort to reshape the company\u2019s work culture and quickly remove employees who don\u2019t meet the expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now Microsoft is signalling a major shift toward stricter performance standards as the company has enforced a two-year rehire ban for low-performing ex-employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under these new policies, Microsoft employees are facing challenges as they have only two options \u2013 either commit to a formal Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) with clear goals and a deadline to improve or choose to exit the company voluntarily in exchange for a separation package worth 16 weeks of pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Banning From Rehire<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The employees who receive the lowest Rewards outcomes (zero or 60 per cent) or are under a PIP will not be eligible for internal transfers as per an internal email from Microsoft\u2019s new Chief People Officer, Amy Coleman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;In addition to this, the employees who leave the company under such circumstances will also be barred from being rehired for at least two years from their termination date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This seems to be a shift that marks a departure from the more employee-friendly \u201cgrowth mindset\u201d philosophy that CEO Satya Nadella introduced years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the technology giant had moved away from rigid performance evaluation methods like stack-ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, introduction of these new policies suggest a return to stricter standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, Microsoft is not the only company who is implementing these changes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some other companies such as Amazon and Meta, have adopted similar strategies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of Amazon, they have used the term \u201cunregretted attrition\u201d to track and encourage certain employee departures, while Meta has internal block lists that prevent rehiring some former staff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, American technology conglomerate Microsoft has introduced a new set of strict HR policies which are particularly aimed at boosting workplace performance.
